We Plant a Tree With Every Order: How It Works With veritree

Since our very first order, every Mossify purchase has planted a tree. That is still true today. Since March 2026, the tree from your order is funded through our partner veritree, a tree-planting company based in Vancouver, and it goes to veritree's Kenya Mangroves project.

Here is how it works, where your tree goes, and how veritree checks that trees actually get planted.

How it works

• One tree with every order. When you place an order on mossify.ca, we fund one tree through veritree. It is included with your order. You do not need to add anything.
• Add an extra tree if you like. On the cart page, you can choose to add one more tree to your order.
• Watch the count grow. The "Trees committed" counter on our homepage, powered by veritree, shows the running total from Mossify orders.

Why "committed"? A tree is counted the moment your order is placed. veritree's planting partners then plant it and record the planting.

Where your tree goes: Kenya Mangroves

Trees from Mossify orders go to veritree's Kenya Mangroves project, along Kenya's Indian Ocean coast. Mangroves are trees that grow in the salty, muddy ground where the land meets the sea.

Here is how veritree describes the project:

"Kenya's coastal mangrove forests stretch over hundreds of kilometres along the Indian Ocean shoreline, forming one of East Africa's most vital and biodiverse coastal ecosystems. [...] This project restores mangrove forests across Kenya's coast, helping fishing communities rebuild their livelihoods and recover the ecological services this coastline depends on."

Why we chose veritree: they check the trees get planted

A tree promise only means something if someone checks it. That is a big part of why we chose veritree. According to veritree's how it works page:

• Its planting partners collect data and evidence on the ground, and upload it through veritree's own app, called Collect.
• Each planting session goes through three levels of verification, using ground-level monitoring and remote sensor technology.
• Once verified, the planting data is published to a public blockchain, and impact reports include photos, videos and progress updates.

Where it started: One Tree Planted

When we moved to veritree in March 2026, veritree added the trees from our One Tree Planted years to our count. That way, the total reflects every order since day one, not just the orders since the switch.

More than 23,000 trees, one order at a time

Counting our One Tree Planted years and our orders since moving to veritree, Mossify orders have funded more than 23,000 trees. Every one of those started with someone buying a moss pole, a bag of moss or a gift for a plant friend.
